This year is the Rolex’s 85th year of being partnered with Daytona, and what a ride it’s been. The rich history of Rolex and Daytona Beach began in 1933, when legendary racer Sir Malcolm Campbell set a land speed record there while wearing a Rolex Oyster. Rolex’s status as the go-to watch for elite racers only grew when, in 1962, three years after the Daytona Speedway opened, Rolex launched the prestigious Rolex 24. This 24 hour race tested racers’ skill and endurance, and waiting at the finish line for the winners was a Rolex Daytona.
To celebrate the 85th anniversary of the legendary race that put the Rolex Oyster on the map, let’s take a look at some of our favorite Rolex Oyster models.
